If you're a member of our Port Angeles Boudoir Facebook group, you may have seen a live video I posted talking about why your body image is bullshit. I feel like this is SO important that I wanted to share it with you all here.
Let me ask you a question.
What is your mental voice like? More importantly, what do you say to yourself when you look in the mirror?
Now another question.
Would you say that to your best friend? Your daughter? ANYONE you love?
I didn't think so.
We need to re-frame our mentality around our body image.
One more question.
Why is loving our bodies so radical?
It's bullshit. Frankly.
We need to change the way we talk to ourselves drastically. It is OUR responsibility to change society and what it teaches us, but more importantly, the next generation. I do NOT want my children to look in a mirror and talk to themselves the way that I have most of my life. I'm done seeing my flaws- we all have them, why is THAT what we choose to see?
When you look at a photo of your child, your lover, your best friend- what do your eyes fall on? Their radiant smile? Their soul filled eyes? That little birthmark, scar, etc that tells you part of their life story?
Now why is it that when we view ourselves, we skim over the good and choose instead to focus on the parts we dislike, that society has taught us is wrong or bad or whatever.
I don't care if you are thin, curvy as hell, somewhere in between.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU DESERVE TO OWN THAT SHIT.
